Pinot Noir

The Mineralstein Pinot Noir is generous, fruit led and amazingly approachable.  Packed with ripe, red cherry fruit and slight spicy notes this wonderful wine is rounded, silky and almost dangerously easy to drink.  Two thirds of the wine is aged in second and third use French Oak with the remainder aged in steel for freshness.  This isn't an archetypal Spatburgunder, but more a classic Pinot with a German accent.

The Ventisquero 'Soul of the Andes' Pinot Noir Reserva is a terrific value, fruit led Pinot from the Casablanca Valley in Chile.  This lovely wine has a bright cherry and ruby red colour in the glass, a vibrant nose of strawberry, vanilla and touches of spice. The palate is generous and rounded, showing cherry and stawberry fruit, a soft, silky texture and nicely balanced acidity on the finish.  Easy and approachable, this is a great value Pinot Noir that won't break the bank.

We love the Predappio Sangiovese from Chiara Condello here at DWC.  Made with the Sangiovese Piccolo clone, the grapes are small and produce concentrated wines when in the hands of such a talented winemaker.  Chiara works organically and utilises long, slow fermentations to produce an intense, concentrated Sangiovese.  Beautifully lifted and perfumed on the nose, the wine is both intense yet delicate, with cherry, plum and raspberry fruit on the palate and wonderfully poised acidity.

Brio is made from Sangiovese grapes grown in the estate vineyards on the gently sloping hills of Scansano, fully expressing the freshness of this grape variety. Here's something you don't come across everyday...a Nebbiolo/Cabernet blend that is fermented and aged in concrete egg.  The choice of fermentation vessel aids circulation during teh ferment which imparts depth, volume and texture to the resultant wine.  This fabulous wine not only has a cool, egg-shaped label, but drinks beautifully - showing bright acidity and a lovely balance between sweet blackcurrant fruit and something altogether more savoury and herbal. The finish is clean and multi-layered.

Fabiano's vineyards are located in the northern part of Verona , an area characterised by hills with mineral rich soils that slope towards Adige river. This is serious stuff from Fabiano with youthful Valpolicella being passed over the pressings left from the Amarone fermentation, resulting in a wine that has a wonderful balance of freshness and concentration with vibrant cherry fruit and rich, raisiny structure and firm drying tannins.
