Description

This light to medium-bodied Pinot Noir from Domaine la Colombette is an utterly delicious raspberry and strawberry stashed red wine which over delivers on quality for the price.

We are massive fans of the wines from Domaine La Colombette.  It all began in 1890 when Louis Pugibet a blacksmith, fell in love with a winemaker and she gave him his first hectare as a gift for the marriage. Four generations later Francois and son Vincent work side by side creating exciting wines. Colombette are pioneers in the region and are at the forefront of exploring and developing new techniques with disease resistant grape varieties as well as continuing to produce outstanding wines from known varieties.  They produce a wide range of styles and whilst all their wines are distinctive they posess a common thread of having restrained alcohol levels without compromising on fruit or body.

Chasselas

This is a delicious, more'ish white made mainly from Chasselas, the grape variety which is typical to the Canton of Vaud. Yves and Antoine de Mestral like to play around with it, making wine several different styles, of which this was our favourite.  Quite classic in style for Chasselas with a lovely balance of the creamy, fruity, floral and mineral palate. Rich and complex, this is a perfect wine to sip on its own, enjoy with fish and seafood.

Champagne Blend

The grapes for the Lete Vautrain Brut 204 are harvested by hand and sorted prior to fermentation at a cool temperature, and ageing on lees takes place for a minimum of 36 months.  The wine shows a lovely deep golden hue in the glass with apple, peach and apricot fruit complemented by dried fruits and classic biscuity notes.  A well balanced, complex and rounded Champagne that is the perfect aperitif style.
