New Zealand
New Zealand is tiny in terms of the amount of the worlds wine that they produce (roughly 1%), but with two thirds of their wine exported, they are an important wine producing country on the world stage. Having burst onto the wine scene, and leapt into wine drinkers glasses, through introducing us to a unique, vibrant style of Sauvignon Blanc, we are now discovering other vinuous delights from both the North and South Islands. Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay have joined ‘Kiwi Sauv’ as must try New Zealand white wines, whilst Pinot Noir in it’s various guises from Otago, Marlborough and Martinborough has been joined by Hawke’s Bay Syrah and Bordeaux style blends from Waiheke as red wines to look out for from the land of the long white cloud.
