The Reyneke Cornerstone is a blend of 86% Cabernet Franc and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon farmed Biodynamically.  This terrific value red displays typically aromatic Cabernet Franc characters on the nose with delicate perfume and the vegetal stalkiness one would expect.  The palate is impeccably balanced with sweet dark fruit, spice notes and more vegetal characteristics coming through on the long, well-balanced finish.

The Tokara Director's Reserve Red displays an appealing red claret colour with an intense core and a ruby rim. The nose shows complex aromas of ripe red and black fruits with hints of dried cranberry, baking spice and graphite. The wine enters the palate with incredible purity and focus. Flavours are those of dark cherries, blackberries and ripe plum skin. The Tokara Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon wine displays a deep maroon colour with a vibrant edge. The nose leads with classic graphite notes, briary fruits interwoven with aromas of five spice and the faintest hint of dried porcini. The Cabernet/Shiraz from Hartenberg has a lovely vivid purple/red colour, with ripe berry fruits on the nose and hints of forest floor entwined with sweet spice. The palate reveals plenty of vibrant red fruit courtesy of the Cabernet Sauvignon alongside typical black pepper spice from the Shiraz.  There's plenty of juicy, crunchy fruit, soft gentle tannins and a velvety, elegant finish.

2021 Director’s Reserve White, Tokara, W.O. Stellenbosch

White Blend

The Tokara Director's Reserve White represents the pinnacle of white wine production at Tokara, one of Stellenbosch's finest estates.  This delicious white is a blend of 68% Sauvignon Blanc and 32% Semillon picked from pristine south/southwest facing granite slopes.  The wine is pressed, with only the free run juice from the best blocks making the final wine.  It is barrel fermented and aged in french oak for 9 months with regular lees stirring before blending and bottling in the November following harvest.

Riesling

The Hartenberg  Riesling is planted on clay-rich soils and harvested entirely by hand. With 25% of the grapes showing signs of Botrytis at harvest time, this wine boasts stone fruit aromas, honeyed petrol notes, lanolin and a vibrant acidity. The bouquet displays beautiful elements of chalky,flint and minerally notes.The wine is juicy and opulent on palate entry and then a fine acidity arrives to provide a perfect foil to the inherent fruit “sweetness”. Despite being bone dry,the wine finishes with an appealing sweet/sour character,begging a second taste.

2021 The Liberator Francophile Syrah, Stellenbosch

The Liberator Francophile Syrah is a partial whole bunch ferment which gives a wine that is full of vibrant red-black fruit, with an aromatic nose reminiscent of Saint-Joseph lillie. The result is a thrilling young red that is free of the constraints and manipulated flavour profile that come with barrel-ageing. This is a very pure and naked example of the Syrah grape. Dangerously drinkable on release, it could be expected to age for three to five years in bottle.

The Zevenwacht Tin Mine White is a stunning blend of Chenin, Chardonnay, Roussanne, Viognier and Semillon, coming from vineyards planted on decomposed granite soils which lie between 200 and 350m above sea level.  Ageing in 500 litre French oak barrels helps add to the wonderful texture without detracting from the impeccably integrated exotic, spicey fruit and lively yet balanced acidity.
