The result is a thrilling young red that is free of the constraints and manipulated flavour profile that come with barrel-ageing. This is a very pure and naked example of the Syrah grape. Dangerously drinkable on release, it could be expected to age for three to five years in bottle.

This is a beautiful expression of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) showing a lovely balance of power and freshness.  The nose is dominated by generous black fruits with hints of spice and mineral undertones.  The palate is beautifully textured with well-integrated tannins and notes of vanilla and baked pastry complimenting the fruit through to the long finish.

The Fontanario de Pegoes Tinto comes from a fabulous co-operative based in the Peninsula de Setubal.  Fruit forward and easy drinking, yet in no way dull, this cracking value red wine has intense aromas of red berries, spice and a hint of vanilla. This is a well-structured and smooth wine with a soft and fruity mouthfeel, complemented by attractive coffee notes on the lingering finish.

2023 Julienas ‘Bois de la Salle’, Cave Julienas-Chaintre

The grapes for this medium weight, fruit led Julienas are hand harvested and left in tank for 10 days to macerate in order to optimise the colour and aroma of the wine. Fermentation takes place at a warm 27/28 degrees centigrade and maturation follows until March when the wine is bottled.An intense, purple colour. Fruity aromas dominated by fragrant raspberry, blackberry and blueberry. Round, supple and rich yet balanced by a lingering freshness on the finish.

The grapes for this wine are hand harvested from 2 parcels in the heart of Mercurey where the soil is clay and limestone. They spend 10-15 days fermenting in the tank before being put into French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.  The wine then spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled.
