Description
The Cepa Gavilan is the most youthful wine made at Vina Pedrosa. This is a beautiful expression of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) showing a lovely balance of power and freshness. The nose is dominated by generous black fruits with hints of spice and mineral undertones. The palate is beautifully textured with well-integrated tannins and notes of vanilla and baked pastry complimenting the fruit through to the long finish.
Vina Pedrosa were instrumental in the founding of the Ribera del Duero DO in 1982 and their Unico, (regularly placed against Vega Sicilia’s) is only wine in the region to bare the Vatican’s coat of arms (one of their top cuvees was amongst the Vatican’s
official event wines for 12 years!) These are definitely wines for Tempranillo purists and those who appreciate the balance of elegance and drinkability.

Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac. Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness. The grapes for this wine are hand harvested from 2 parcels in the heart of Mercurey where the soil is clay and limestone. They spend 10-15 days fermenting in the tank before being put into French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. The wine then spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled.
