This 100% Garnacha is elegant, refined and a perfect representation of the winemaking philosophy at Bodega Alegre Valganon. Medium-bodied with enticing red and dark fruit characters, including cherry and raspberries, alongside a whiff of wood and spice. The finish has well-integrated, delicate tannins and a beautiful lift. Complex yet approachable, this wonderful expression of Garnacha from the high altitude vineyards of Rioja Alta is a great wine to try if you have had enough of the big, gutsy modern styles packed with fruit and oak that have become very popular in recent years.
We are very excited to welcome the fabulous wines of Bodegas Alegre Valganon to our shelves. Husband and wife team Eva and Oscar strive to produce wines which hark back to a traditional style of Rioja, pre-dating the arrival of the Bordelais and Phylloxera. They farm old plots of vines in the shadow of the Obarenes Mountains which are some of the highest and coolest in the region, yielding wines that are refined and aromatic. Their vineyard plots are managed meticulously and they favour whole bunch fermentation, long macerations and ageing in large, neutral barrels.

The Bourgogne Pinot Noir Epineuil from Domaine Fournillon is a beautifully fresh Pinot with bright, red fruit flavours and supple tannins. This delightful red wine comes from parcels of vines in the village of Epineuil, with the majority of Pinot Noir grapes are harvested mechanically for efficiency so they can be transported to the estate for maceration in stainless steel tank for a period of 2 weeks, with regular punch downs. After separating the skins from the juice it is aged in stainless steel tanks for a minimum of 15 months.
