The Iris Malbec from Bodegas Staphyle is one of our bestselling wines and is consistently rated very highly by critics.  There's a wonderful fruit character, dominated by cherries and blueberries, that is backed up by hints of violets and peppery spice.  The palate is rounded and juicy, with silky tannins and an almost dangerously drinkable edge!

2024 Kuzubag Kalecik Karasi, Cal Denizli

Kuzubag Estate Winery was founded in 2007 by Salih Kuzu and Asli Kuzu (father and daughter) based in Istanbul and Denizli when the family first planted the vineyards in their hometown of Çal, Denizli, Turkey. Conscious of the region’s distinctive terroir and honouring its centuries-old winemaking heritage, they set out slowly to establish vineyards showcasing indigenous Turkish grapes as well as classic varietals. After patiently waiting 13 years for the vineyards to mature, a 3000 square metre contemporary winery was constructed, discreetly embedded into the landscape at the very heart of the estate. The first vintage was celebrated in 2021. Oenologist and winemaker Ms. Semril Zorlu's main aim in winemaking is to demonstrate the potential of the terroir of Çal, Denizli using exclusively the grapes from the region. 34 hectares are certified organic with the remaining 16 hectares also in conversion to organic, and the wines are in conversion to organic.

2024 Secateurs Red Blend, AA Badenhorst, Swartland

Red Blend

The 2024 Secateurs Red Blend by AA Badenhorst has to be amongst the best he's made.  Adi bought a neighbouring farm that he used to buy grapes from but now has pick of the crop for himself.  There's a hgher proportion of Cabernet in this release than usual, adding more cassis and dark fruit flavours to the mineral tinged spice of the Shiraz. Fuller than normal too, but by no means less approachable, with juicy tannins and terrific balance.

The Serbal Cabernet Franc is an excellent example of how well this grape variety has settled in Argentina.  Historically used as a blending agent for Malbec, we are seeing an increasing amount of single varietal 'Cab Francs' crossing the Atlantic, and we're delighted to receive them! Medium bodied with tell tale aromatics and notes of green pepper alongside darker fruits, the Serbal Cabernet Franc is a pure joy to drink.

The Trastullo Primitivo is a wonderful example of this luscious grape variety.  Packed with blackberry and cherry fruit that is given a little extra depth courtesy of the use of a small amount of dried grapes from a secondary harvest.  The result is a beautifully balanced wine which is full and rich yet approachable and hugely enjoyable.
