The Cotes Du Rhone Rouge 'Cuvee Bonheur' from  Dom. La Loyanne is a typical Rhone blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah and shows complex dark fruits with garrigue notes on the nose along side the odd whiff of violets.  The delicious and more'ish palate is rich and concentrated showing great depth and elegance through to the balanced finish.  Like all the wines from Loyanne, this is such as joy to drink and provides superb value for money.

2022 Cremant de Bourgogne Brut, Domaine Fournillon

Pinot Noir

Fournillon have 23 hectares of vines in Chablis in the cool, north of burgundy and are predominantly producers of classic, steely Chablis (see our fantastic value 'house' Chablis), but they also produce some red and this delicious cremant from 100% Pinot Noir.  All fruit is hand-harvested and vinified carefully to produce an easy drinking, fruit-forward fizz that is well balanced and nicely rounded with a fine mousse.  Excellent as an apertif.

The Growers Touch Durif by Mino And Co reveals a nose that is bursting with sweet berry fruits such as Mulberry and Blueberry backed up by vanillin tinged oak and coconut with hints of spice. The Frankenstein white is a blend of Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Muscat and Pinot Gris grown in granite rich Grand Cru vineyards of Frankstein.  Alsace wine law forbids blending for Grand Cru wines so this cracking wine is only classified as AC Alsace despite the quality of fruit going into it.  Exotic, bold and full of character, this complex and aromatic white blends floral notes, ginger spice and tropical fruits such as Mango, lychee and ripe pear.  Although naturally aromatic the finish is dry and mineral tinged with a surprising delicacy courtesy of the granite rich soils of Frankstein.

The Fels Am from Anton Waldschutz is a fuller expression of Gruner Veltliner with some added depth and texture due to 6 months ageing on lees.  There's so much to excite here, with a nose of exotic fruits, spice and dried herbs.  The palate is full, round and rich yet doesn't lack any of the spiciness one would expect from the grape.  This is delicious now but could age gracefully for years to come.

The 2022 Chardonnay Hunting Hill is an impressive, focused style. It has a sense of energy, being almost buoyant with the movement of a skimming stone across your palate. There's a powerful core of fruit here and it has plenty of substance within its no-more-than medium-bodied core before kerpow! It fires home with an almost spicy kick. Clever oak use, reminiscent of toasted nuts, meets restrained flavors of lemon and lime bitter and nectarine fruit. A wine that's still in its cocoon so give it time. It may even have the edge of Maté's... Big call. 2024-2035.

This relatively young family owned Domaine was created in 2001 by vignerons with 4 generations of vinegrowing and winemaking expertise under their belts.  They own some seriously old vines in superb sites in the Southern Rhone on a mixture of soils of red sand, clay and the classic 'Galet' pebbles associated with Chateauneuf du Pape.  As a result, their wines posess a wonderful depth and concentration.
