Description

Bodegas Emilio Moro craft elegant, fresh and lifted Ribera del Duero red wine taht are true reflections of their origin.  They firmly believe that great wine is born in the vineyard and disregard the terms Crianza and Reserva when it comes to labelling their wines.

The wine is fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel and then aged in a mixture of French and American oak for 12 months, 33% of which is new oak.  Typical aromas of Tempranillo (Tinto Fino in Ribera del Duero) have mellowed during the ageing process with woody notes playing a supportive role in the background. The palate is a continuation of the nose, being strong and powerful with mellow, refined tannins and elegant freshness and lift on the finish.

2022 Promis Ca Marcanda, Gaja, IGT Toscana

Merlot

The Ca Marcanda Promis is a complex wine with an undeniable elegance. The nose is rich and concentrated, with blueberry, liquorice and cocoa hints. It starts fresh and then develops balsamic notes and scents of graphite, before becoming more mellow in character with a rhubarb and menthol note. The palate is voluminous with fine-grained and silky tannins on the finish.

Saransot Dupre Bordeaux Rouge Magnum.JPG

2020 Chateau Saransot-Dupre, Listrac Medoc, Magnum

Bordeaux Blend

Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac.  Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness.  Much like Chateau Fourcas Hosten, the wines have improved year on year since 2010 and the property were put on the radar thanks to a certain Robert Parker hailing the 2010 vintage as 'classed growth quality'.  High praise indeed!

Moulin Camus Gamay.JPG

2023 Gamay, Domaine Moulin Camus, IGP Loire

Gamay

This 100% Gamay from Domaine Moulin Camus comes from grapes grown on a slope of pure mica schist which gives the wine juicy, rounded red fruits a bit of tautness and minerality.  A warmer than normal, sulphur free maceration for three days helps bring out some warmth and roundness to the fruit, making it slightly beaujolais'esque but without the bubble gum/commercial edge that one would normally find in this price range.

2021 Sangiovese ‘Valley Vignerons Series’, Payten & Jones, Yarra

Sangiovese

The Payten and Jones winery in Yarra Valley has never been one to follow the crowd and they specialise in minimal intervention, natural (in a good way), farming and winemaking, that translates into styles which are fruit forward and downright enjoyable.
