With a winery located in the steep hills of Mango in Gramella, the Tintero family has been tending grapevines in the appellations of Moscato d'Asti and Langhe for four generations. Barbaresco DOCG is produced every year from the 100 hectares of vineyards controlled by the Produttori within the appellation, mainly in the Barbaresco village itself. In the best vintages, when the quality of the grapes is great everywhere, the historical crus are vinified separately and Barbaresco is then produced with the grapes from the remaining vineyards.

2020 Sito Moresco Langhe, Gaja

Red Blend

The fabulous Sito Moresco is a blend of 60% Nebbiolo and 40% Barbera grown on predominantly Limestone soils.  The wine is fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel and oak and strikes a refreshing balance between ageworthyness and approachability.  In the glass the wine is a lovely bright ruby colour, whilst the nose is open with violet, mulberry and fresh spice aromas. The palate opens with crunchy red fruits and aromas of red plum and red cherry intermingled with a more savoury note which leads to a long, mineral tinged finish with well-intergrated tannins.  All in all this is a wonderfully harmonious, fresh and rounded wine that is full of charm and approachable now and utterly delicious with roasted red meats, casseroles and stews.

The Monte Luzzo Barbera is another fabulous wine from the fantastic Cantine Povero.  A wonderfully clean and pure expression of the grape with fresh cherry, plum and wild berry fruit mingled with hints of violets on the nose along with notes of spice.  The palate is beautifully rounded and fresh with an abundance of quaffable fruit.  The wine spends 6 months in oak to add texture and roundness rather than imparting oaky characteristics.

The Bric Sassi vineyard enjoys a privileged position in the Gavi growing area. Here the vineyards mostly face due South, and are made up of 40 year old vines. The result is a complex wine with delicious white peach notes on the nose leading onto more stone fruit on the palate as well as delicious honeydew melon.
