Passion and heritage has been passed down through the Bou Sleiman family for four generations. When Joseph Bou Sleiman took over the reins at Château Oumsiyat, he blended respect for local tradition with modern techniques to craft contemporary wines. A passionate vine grower, Joseph also built a modern winery in the village of Mtein, where he creates wines that are a fusion of old world and new world . The grapes are grown in the 78 hectare vineyard, situated at over 1,000 metres elevation in the beautiful Bekaa Valley, between Mount Lebanon to the west and the Anti-Lebanon Mountains to the east.

The Entre les Vents Cotes du Rhone Blanc is a wonderfully expressive white wine showing a richly layered nose. This terrific Godello from Bodegas y Vinedos Merayo is great value. Delicate and pale yellow in the glass with an intense nose of green apple and stone fruit and traces of citrus and fennel. Minerality lends the wine a further degree of complexity. The palate is generous and rounded, without ever losing the sensation of freshness with notes of citrus, green apple, and minerality. The texture from lees ageing is apparent in the lovely mouthfeel, enveloping the wine and giving it a rich, slightly sweet feeling of overall harmony.

The Hartenberg  Riesling is planted on clay-rich soils and harvested entirely by hand. With 25% of the grapes showing signs of Botrytis at harvest time, this wine boasts stone fruit aromas, honeyed petrol notes, lanolin and a vibrant acidity. The bouquet displays beautiful elements of chalky,flint and minerally notes.The wine is juicy and opulent on palate entry and then a fine acidity arrives to provide a perfect foil to the inherent fruit “sweetness”. Despite being bone dry,the wine finishes with an appealing sweet/sour character,begging a second taste.

In 1990, Maté Brajkovich reworked the land and planted a new vineyard of Chardonnay vines on the site of the original vineyard that he and his family purchased in March 1944. The first grapes from this vineyard were harvested in March 1993, the year following Maté's death. The resulting wine was released in November 1994 to coincide with celebrations marking the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Brajkovich Family's arrival at Kumeu River.
