Description
The Hartenberg Riesling is planted on clay-rich soils and harvested entirely by hand. With 25% of the grapes showing signs of Botrytis at harvest time, this wine boasts stone fruit aromas, honeyed petrol notes, lanolin and a vibrant acidity. The bouquet displays beautiful elements of chalky,flint and minerally notes.The wine is juicy and opulent on palate entry and then a fine acidity arrives to provide a perfect foil to the inherent fruit “sweetness”. Despite being bone dry,the wine finishes with an appealing sweet/sour character,begging a second taste.
Established in 1692, Hartenberg Estate is one of South Africa`s oldest wineries and has one of the most respected winemakers in the Western Cape at its helm, Carl Schultz. Carl has been in residence at Hartenberg and making these wines for over 20 years now.
