Chardonnay

The crisp, fresh Bourgogne Chardonnay from Domaine Fournillon comes from vineyards close to Chablis and shares similar characteristics with citrus and mineral tinged fruit. There is some decent weight in the mid-palate with a creaminess to the texture, but no oak was harmed in the making of this wine.  Sophisticated, very drinkable and great value.

Dry yet exotic, this field blend is made from estate grown Muller Thurgau, Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio.  The elegant nose shows floral notes of jasmine and zesty lime, leading to delicate white spices, including white pepper and a touch of ginger. On the palate, this pristine white wine opens with vibrant freshness, leading to a crisp, bone-dry finish. The Butussi Ribolla Gialla is a delicious, medium bodied, dry white wine from Friuli in north-eastern Italy.  Supremely elegant and delicately floral on the nose, the palate shows crisp citrus and peach fruit that mingles with fresh almonds.  The well-balanced finish is superbly clean and fresh.  Elegant, harmonious and a terrific wine to pair with shellfish.

The Chinon Joueurs from Domaine la Chapelle's was the first wine to be released from this biodynamic Domaine. The grapes are hand harvested from a mixture of different plots, and then fermented in concrete tank with natural yeasts.  The result is a wine that displays immense purity and freshness, giving hints of typical vegetal notes alongside perfumed dark fruits and a lovely vein of acidity.  Balanced, harmonious and a joy to drink.

2024 Clea by Bardos Verdejo, DO Rueda

Verdejo

The Clea Verdejo comes from older, 20-25 year old vines that are planted at around 700 metres above sea level in Rueda.  This lovely wine is very typical of the variety, with lots of zesty vibrant citrus and stone fruit flavours and notes of cut grass.  This is a great wien to try if you're a Sauvignon Blanc fan and fancy something a little different.

2024 Côtes du Rhône ‘Le Temps est Venu’, Stephane Ogier, AOC

Rhone Blend

This lovely Cotes du Rhone is a blend of Stephane Ogier's Rasteau and Cairanne vineyard and displays the typical elegance all his wines posess.  60% Grenache and 40% Syrah make up the blend and provide a medium to full bodied wine that is packed with plummy, herbal tinged fruit and beautifully poised acidity. Although this is approachable now with a decent decant, waiting until 2026/2027 will pay dividends and the wine should drink beautifully through to 2033.

2024 Cotes du Rhone Rouge, Domaine de la Berthete, AC

Rhone Blend

Domaine de la Berthete have made a wonderfully approachable Cotes du Rhone that is packed with the warm, sunny flavours of the pebble strewn vineyards of the Southern Rhone.  50% Grenache and 30% Syrah are blended with a selection of other varieties from vines with an average age of 35 years old.  The result is a tantalising red that shows ripe black fruits, garrigue notes and a waft of spice on the long, satisfying finish.  Not a blockbuster, but packed with flavour, this terrific value red is a great match to roasted red meats.

2024 Cotes Du Rhone, Un Bon Canon

The Un Bon Canon Cotes du Rhone hits the spot every time with it's fruit forward blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mouvedre which is fermented in concrete tanks.  The vineyards lie in the southern part of the region on a dried up river bed strewn with heat retaining pebbles.  The hot summer sun ensures that the wine is bold and fruity with raspberry and dark fruits and hints of garrigue/herbal undergrowth.

The Diamantopetra Vidiano/Assyrtiko is a bright, pale yellow in the glass. The aroma is elegant with flavours of pineapple, apricot and chamomile which are combined elaborately with vanilla, nuts and oak. In the mouth, full bodied with crisp acidity that integrates nicely allowing the fruit to be properly expressed. The finish is long as leaving you a wonderful aftertaste with apricot and vanilla hints.
