Description

Chateau La Mascaronne have always produced good Provence Rosé but since their purchase by Michel Reybier (owner of Cos d’Estournel) in 2020, the property has been producing very, very good Provence Rosé indeed!

Beautifully pale in the glass with silvery hues to the bright pink tinges.  The nose is packed with stone fruit, notably white peach, red fruits and citrus.  The sophisticated palate is well-structured with mouth coating fruit, lively acidity and refreshing notes of peach, pineapple and citrus on the long finish.  Utterly delicious and a distinct cut above better known ‘brands’ out there – this is serious stuff and a wine to be savoured for 1 – 2 years from vintage.

Certified Biodynamic since 2016, Chateau La Mascaronne is a 60 hectare estate with distinctive stone-walled terraces.  The vineyards are on a single, amphitheatre like plot surrounded by oak and olive trees on the highest part of the estate.  At 300 metres above sea level the nights are cool whilst the warm, sunny days promote even ripening and wonderful balance.

Cinsault 40%, Grenache 35%, Syrah 15% and Rolle 10%

Chenin Blanc

The Carte d'Or Coteaux du Layon from Baumard has a very attractive honeyed nose, with lifted yellow fruits and more golden tropical elements such as mango, guava and pineapple. It has a particularly tropical character and a very fresh feel on the palate, with steely minerality and a zippy background acidity giving invigorating tartness to keep the wine luscious and buoyant. The rounded, approachable finish has good length.
