2016 Chateau Cambon La Pelouse, Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc

The Château and it’s vineyards are on the outskirts of Macau and counts the Margaux estate of Giscours and Cantemerle as neighbours. With an average annual production of 250,000 bottles, the estate is planted with 52% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot to a vine density of 7,000 vines per hectare, with an average age of 30 years for the vines. The terroir is composed of sandy gravels which provides effective drainage. This ensures a consistent production of elegant medium-bodied wines which have been praised by Robert Parker as “one of my favorite estates from the southern part of the Médoc”. This historic estate has produced a very classic claret, but with lovely modern dense dark fruit, soft integrated tannins and a ripe, clean, bold Bordeaux finish. Whilst Cambon is always a very good Cru Bourgeois, from this 2016 vintage the Châteaux has surpassed itself in terms of a price to quality ratio. 2019 Bordeaux Blanc Sec, Chateau Saransot-Dupre

Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac. Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness. Much like Chateau Fourcas Hosten, the wines have improved year on year since 2010 and the property were put on the radar thanks to a certain Robert Parker hailing the 2010 vintage as 'classed growth quality'. High praise indeed!
