The collaboration between the ‘bad boy’ of Bordeaux Jean-Luc Thunevin and Roussillon ‘local boy’ Jean-Roger Calvet has produced a range of wines that are not only spectacular but are exceptional value for money. There’s no hiding the class of this little gem from Maury, a commune that sits at the foot of the Pyrenees.  It’s a blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 20% Carignan from vines of up to 45 years old and shows plenty of rounded fruit, a balanced spicy backbone with underlying minerality and impeccable finish.

The Triebaumer Rose is a massively appealing Rose made from the Blaufrankisch grape variety.  A delicious combination of red berry fruits, strawberries and cream and refreshing redcurrants abound on both the nose and the palate. The finish is long and wonderfully fresh with a tantalising hint of sweetness which simply adds to the appeal.  Tasted blind, this could pass for a very light red as opposed to Rose but that shouldn't stop you from giving it a go.

2021 La Garnacha Olvidada de Aragon, D.O Catalayud

This fabulously full Grenache comes from high altitude south facing vineyards (850m) and is a wonderful example of the grape.  Hearty and full, juicy and plump, the wine wears its high alcohol with surprising ease, resulting in a more'ish, fruit led Garnacha that is immediately appealing.  Ageing on lees in concrete for 6 months prior to bottling and release.  The nose shows both dark and red fruits which carry through to the palate and are joined by touches of silky mocha and chocolate.  The gentle tannins carry the wine on the long, balanced finish.
