2015 Sancerre Le Pente, Emile Balland, Magnum
Sauvignon Blanc
This tiny 6.5 hectare domaine in the Loire was started by Emile Balland in 1999. The Ballands have been making wines in the Loire since 1650 and his father was instrumental in achieving recognition for the young AOC Coteaux du Giennois in the 1980s.The La Pente is a first class Sancerre and the pinnacle of Emile' production. It comes from vines are grown on Emile's finest sites in teh limestone soil of Beauregard, and he only uses the first juice from the pressing is used. After a careful fermentation, the wine is matured for large barrels for 18 months to develop complexityWonderful, textured Sancerre showing restrained tropical fruits, fine minerality and a wonderful length on the finish. We are thrilled to have got our hands on a few magnums of this stunning wine.

The Tonel Mouchao has aromas of deep black fruits, dark sweetness, dry fruits, combined with the freshness of mint and eucalyptus. Ca dei Maghi is a small yet perfectly formed winery in the hills which focusses on quality over quantity. The Amarone Riserva Canova is a stunning, and very classic style Amarone made in the traditional way with grapes which are dried in huts over the winter. Following fermetation the wine spends 60 months ageing in barrel providing beautifully integrated wood, spice and fruit. This decadent Amarone is rich and warming with the typical plum, cherry and choclate characteristics one would expect on the wonderfully silky palate. The finish is very long and warming - one for those long winter evenings!

2016 Chateau Cambon La Pelouse, Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc
Bordeaux Blend
The Château and it’s vineyards are on the outskirts of Macau and counts the Margaux estate of Giscours and Cantemerle as neighbours. With an average annual production of 250,000 bottles, the estate is planted with 52% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot to a vine density of 7,000 vines per hectare, with an average age of 30 years for the vines. The terroir is composed of sandy gravels which provides effective drainage. This ensures a consistent production of elegant medium-bodied wines which have been praised by Robert Parker as “one of my favorite estates from the southern part of the Médoc”. This historic estate has produced a very classic claret, but with lovely modern dense dark fruit, soft integrated tannins and a ripe, clean, bold Bordeaux finish. Whilst Cambon is always a very good Cru Bourgeois, from this 2016 vintage the Châteaux has surpassed itself in terms of a price to quality ratio. 2016 Chateau Musar, Bekaa Valley

The 2016 vintage of Musar is a deep ruby in colour with high viscosity. Red cherries, plums, carob and figs dominate the nose with a hint of eastern spice. Kirsch and plums follow through to the palate with blackcurrant and chocolate. The tannins are velvety soft and this wine has a lot of depth and fruit concentration with a long finish.

2016 Chateau Treytins, Montagne Saint-Emilion
Merlot
Chateau Treytins are a little better known for their Lalande de Pomerol, but have been making wine in Montagne Saint Emilion since 1998. This fruit forward and approachable claret is made with 90% Merlot with the remainder being Cabernet Franc and other varieties, and is fermented in stainless steel, followed by a long maceration and bottling after 18 months of ageing. Fresh with elegant red fruit notes and delicate tannins.

The Finca Moncloa Tinto is a medium- high intensity with cherry red tones and persistent legs, with intense aromas of ripe red/ black fruits such as blackberry, blueberry and plum. It also carries some floral notes and spice such as black pepper, clove, vanilla and balsamic, whihc intensifies in the glasss. As well as this, you will also fine some fine notes of oak. On the palate it is well balanced with good acidity and a slightly sweet entrance. This is a smooth wine with body and long, round tannins.
