The Roca Grisa, Marco Abella is massively expressive with intense, notes of graphite, plum, blackcurrant and blueberries with coffee and chocolate lurking in the background. Rich, ripe and velvety tannins with a long fresh finish, this wine has plenty going for it now but will continue to age and develop gracefully for several more years. The Roca Grisa (Grey Slate) is a single vineyard wine form Marca Abella’s Malolla vineyard and is one of their top wines.
The Marco Abella family have been producing wines in the Priorat region since the 15th century, with David Marco returning to the region in the early naughties to breath new life into his ancestral vineyards. Marco Abella owns seven plots located on seven different peaks in the village of Porrera. These are the highest plots of the Priorat region. During the winemaking process they only use indigenous yeasts in the fermentation process and age the wines in their own cellars located seven meters below ground level – the lowest tier of their custom built gravity fed winery.

2022/23 Mercurey Rouge 1er Cru, Domaine Meunier

The grapes for this wine are hand harvested from 2 parcels in the heart of Mercurey where the soil is clay and limestone. They spend 10-15 days fermenting in the tank before being put into French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. The wine then spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled.
