Description
This terrific red comes from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Valtellina Superiore area in the districts of Berbenno, Sondrio, Montagna e Teglio, between 350 and 500 metres above sea level. The best quality grapes are dried for 2 months in the “fruttaio”, a ventilated area on the top floor of the CasaClima Wine cellar.
The wine displays a beautiful dark garnet-red colour alongside orange overtones. Pronounced varietal aromas abound on the nose with polished spicy edges of vanilla and hints of dried fruit and flowers. It has warm, dry and persistent flavours with silky textured, lingering fruit on the palate. Powerful yet with great delicacy, the warming fruits carry through to a finely balanced finish with beautiful freshness.
This is a fabulous wine to try if you like Amarone/Passimiento styles.

This 100% Gamay from Domaine Moulin Camus comes from grapes grown on a slope of pure mica schist which gives the wine juicy, rounded red fruits a bit of tautness and minerality. A warmer than normal, sulphur free maceration for three days helps bring out some warmth and roundness to the fruit, making it slightly beaujolais'esque but without the bubble gum/commercial edge that one would normally find in this price range.
