The 2022 Chardonnay Hunting Hill is an impressive, focused style. It has a sense of energy, being almost buoyant with the movement of a skimming stone across your palate. There's a powerful core of fruit here and it has plenty of substance within its no-more-than medium-bodied core before kerpow! It fires home with an almost spicy kick. Clever oak use, reminiscent of toasted nuts, meets restrained flavors of lemon and lime bitter and nectarine fruit. A wine that's still in its cocoon so give it time. The Saint Maur is a single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc made by Two Rivers in Marlborough.  It is a true terroir project and the fruit is harvested from 20 year old vines that grow on the silt and gravel soils.  This fabulous white wine is fermented naturally in a mixture of concrete egg and amphora, and rested on it's lees for a further 12 months prior to release.  The result is a wonderfully textured, exotic and focussed with a complex citrus and herbal tinged palate.  Just 2000 bottles are produced of this wonderful Kiwi Sauvignon so grab it while you can.

2023 Mate’s Vineyard Chardonnay, Kumeu River

The concentration and density of Mate’s Vineyard shines through in this wine even though the 2023 vintage was lighter with a moderate alcohol of 12.5%. No new oak was used in the vinification due to the lighter yields but there was a high proportion of 1 & 2 year old barrels which means the oak feel to this wine is similar to other vintages The vine age of Mate’s Vineyard, now 33 years, contributes to the inherent quality and reputation of this wine and we are confident that bottle age of up to ten years will be beneficial.
