Description
The Church House Chardonnay shows a lovely pale golden colour that is crystal clear in the glass. The enticing nose is fresh and elegant, blending Nectarine and Melon with well integrated butterscotch and toasty notes. Full and rich on the palate, yet retaining elegance and freshness too. The finish is long, balanced and clean.
This terrific wine comes from two distinct vineyard blocks on slopes widely considered the best sites in Gisborne. The low yielding vines are dry farmed to ensure they work hard for their nutrients, resulting in complex and concentrated wines. The grapes are partially hand-harvested, with these being fermented in barrel, and partially machine harvested, the grapes going into stainless steel for a cool ferment to dryness, with 4 months resting on their lees. The final blend is wonderfully well integrated and balances texture and freshness effortlessly.
