Description
The Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay is made from grapes grown in six different vineyard sites in the Kumeu Region. Particular care is taken to select only the very best grapes from these vineyards for Kumeu River Estate label.
2023 is a lighter vintage at Kumeu and careful selection was important to maintain the quality and high standard of the Estate Chardonnay. Hand-harvested and whole bunch pressed with fermentation taking place with indigenous yeasts, prior to fermentation in oak barrels. No new oak was used in the making of this wine, but a high proportion of 1 & 2 year old barrels were used providing a beautiful balance to the wine. The enticing nose of fragrant lemon with hint of white peach leads to a silky palate balanced with a lovely citrus finish. The Kumeu Estate Chardonnay is delicious now but, as always, will benefit from 4 – 6 years bottle age.

The climate is Mediterranean, dry and hot during summer, but more temperate due to it's proximity to the sea.
