2010 Chateau dAngludet.JPG

2010 Chateau Angludet, AC Margaux

Bordeaux Blend

Chateau Angludet is one of the oldest properties in the Medoc and is owned by the Sichel family, 6th generation Bordeaux Negociants and part owners of Chateau Palmer.  The wines from Angludet come from vineyards which are all classified as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel and are consistently excellent.  The superb 2010 comes hot on the heels of the terrific 2009 and although expressive and open now, it will continue to develop very nicely.

Chateau Bellegrave.JPG

2011 Chateau Bellegrave, AC Pomerol

Bordeaux Blend

The 2011 vintage had a hard act to follow coming after two exceptional years in Bordeaux and whilst the wines aren't as showy as the '09's and '10's they are charming and drinking beautifully with a decade in bottle.

Chateau Grandis 2009 Cru Bourgeois.JPG

2011 Chateau Grandis, Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc

Bordeaux Blend

Château Grandis became a family run estate in 1857 and the vineyards are made up of a modest 10 hectares which enables the family to maintain the strictest high standards both in the vineyard and the cellar. In 2005 Brice Vergez took over the running of the estate and has continued to practice the techniques of hand harvesting, hand pruning and racking from barrel to barrel.  He also prefers ploughing between the rows of vines rather than the systematic use of herbicides, promoting soil health wherever possible.

2012 Sauternes, Chateau Lamourette

Semillon/Sauvignon

The Sauternes from Chateau Lamourette are beautifully balanced with dried fruits, honeycomb and quince alongside perfectly poised acidity which freshens the wine.  Already showing nicely with a bit of time in bottle, this will continue to evolve for years to come.

Reserve dAngludet.JPG

2013 La Reserve d’Angludet, AC Margaux

Bordeaux Blend

This second wine of Chateau Angludet is a perfectly mature claret that shows the elegance and finesse of it's more grown up sibling at a fraction of the price.  Silky, red and dark fruits abound with notes of cedar and liquorice sitting alongside well-integrated spice and oak.  Medium-bodied and approachable now, there is still enough structure to suggest further ageing would be possible.

Feytit Clinet Magnum.JPG

2014 Chateau Feytit-Clinet, AC Pomerol, Magnum

Merlot

"The 2014 Feytit Clinet has a crisp bouquet with violet-tinged black fruit, understated and very precise (a leitmotif of Jeremy Chasseuil's wine). The palate is clean and precise, very well defined with a mineral-infused finish that lingers long in the mouth. There is nothing ostentatious about this wine, rather it is all about the composure, refinement and precision. It can be summed up in two words: Bon vin!" Drink Date 2019 - 2035

Cambon la Pelouse.JPG

2016 Chateau Cambon La Pelouse, Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc

Bordeaux Blend

The Château and it’s vineyards are on the outskirts of Macau and counts the Margaux estate of Giscours and Cantemerle as neighbours. With an average annual production of 250,000 bottles, the estate is planted with 52% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot to a vine density of 7,000 vines per hectare, with an average age of 30 years for the vines.  The terroir is composed of sandy gravels which provides effective drainage. This ensures a consistent production of elegant medium-bodied wines which have been praised by Robert Parker as “one of my favorite estates from the southern part of the Médoc”. This historic estate has produced a very classic claret, but with lovely modern dense dark fruit, soft integrated tannins and a ripe, clean, bold Bordeaux finish. Whilst Cambon is always a very good Cru Bourgeois, from this 2016 vintage the Châteaux has surpassed itself in terms of a price to quality ratio. Critics’ Notes: “The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse is a wine of real depth, power and flavor. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, cedar and earthy notes are all laced together in this punchy, expressive Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Once again, Cambon La Pelouse over delivers. It should drink well for the next decade-plus. Tasted two times” Drinking Window 2018 - 2031: 91 Points - By Antonio Galloni on December 2018 “The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse has a classic, nicely detailed bouquet with blackberry, briary, autumn leaves and cedar aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very harmonious and cohesive with supremely well-judged acidity that lends the finish a silky smooth, gently grippy finish that bodes well for the future. Excellent. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London”Drinking Window: 2020 – 2030: 91 Points- By Neal Martin on September 2018 “Closed right now, a good sign that this has the structure for ageing. This is a serious wine with spiced cassis and blackberry fruit, fresh acidities, and plenty of tannins. Enjoyable, and an excellent example of the value and quality that can be found with the 2016 vintage. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot” Drinking Window 2022 - 2036. 92 Points - By Jane Anson, Decanter.com, July 2020

2016 Chateau Cantemerle, Haut Medoc Grand Cru Classe

Bordeaux Blend

The 2016 Chateau Cantemerle is starting to show really nicely yet has plenty of life ahead of it.  This is by no means a blockbuster, being mid weight with classic Haut Medoc characters of dark fruits, pencil lead and touches of cedar perfectly balanced by well integrated tannins and decent acidity on the finsh.

2017 Dame dAngludet.JPG

2017 La Dame d’Angludet, Chateau Angludet, AC Margaux

Bordeaux Blend

Chateau Angludet didn't make a Grand Vin in 2017 and the fruit that would usually grace it's top effort found it's way into their second wine.  Supple and elegant, with silky fruit and fine tannins, this is a wonderful early drinking claret that represents excellent value.

Bel a Ciao Orange Bordeaux.JPG

2022 Bel a Ciao Vin Orange, IGP Atlantique

Semillon/Sauvignon

It's Bordeaux Jim, but not as we know it! Outlandish winemaker Olivier Cazenave likes to do things a little differently and this Orange Bordeaux is testament to that.  Made with predominantly Semillon that spends two weeks on skins before being run off by gravity into a seperate tank for a further 6 months at 5 degrees Celcius until bottling.  A tiny amount of traditionally fermented Sauvignon and Muscadelle is added to add freshness and a floral edge.  No sulphur was used at harvest and is only used in the bottling process when absolutely necessary.

Clos le Comte Cuvee Emilie.JPG

2022 Clos Le Comte Cuvee Emilie, AC Sauternes

White Blend

The Clos le Comte is a tiny, organically farmed vineyard that produces wonderfully elegant Sauternes.  The grapes are harvested after several passages through the vineyard ensuring that only the very ripest grapes are selected.  Wonderfully ripe, concentrated and complex fruit aromas. The rich bouquet shows notes of dried fruits, almonds, apricots, fresh citrus and peach blossom. Well structured on the palate with a viscous density resulting from the high levels of botrytis. Beautiful acidity gives excellent lively freshness to the spicy notes on the long finish.
