Description

Moorooduc was established in 1982 by Richard and Jill McIntyre. Moorooduc is a small, family run wine business that has built an enviable reputation for complex and food friendly wines.

The philosophy here is to use top quality fruit that is produced by intensive, hands on work in the vineyard and minimal use of chemicals. The wines are then fermented using wild yeasts and minimal intervention to allow them to express the character of their individual sites. Moorooduc is rightly regarded as one of the leading lights in Mornington and one of the finest Pinot Noir producers in Australia.

The Soli Merlot is amazing value and drinks beautifully.  Bramble, baked plums and herbal tinges are supported by notes of tobacco giving a wine which is both plush and rounded, and immensely enjoyable to drink.

Idun Cabriole Sauvignon.JPG

2023 Sauvignon Blanc ‘Cabriole’, Idun Winery, WO Bot River

Sauvignon Blanc

The Cabriole Sauvignon Blanc from the Idun winery is an elegant yet expressive Sauvignon from the cool Bot River region of South Africa.  Subtle tropical fruit is beautifully balanced with saline touches and minerality on both the nose and palate, which builds to show an impressive richness whilst never losing freshness and expertly poised acidity.  This terroir driven wine nods more to the classic old world Sauvignon Blanc from Europe than it does the modern Kiwi style, but there is enough character to satisfy lovers of both styles - very impressive.

Barbera dAsti Povero.JPG

2023 Barbera D’asti Cantine Povero, Piedmont

Barbera

This classic Barbera is aged in stainless steel tanks, allowing the primary aromas of the varietal to shine through, including fruity notes such as cherry, orange peel, plum, and berries, all backed up by violet and elderberry floral notes.  Soft tannins and the marked acidity make this charming little wine a very versatile wine when it comes to food matching.
