The Yarra Yering Dry Red No.1 is an Aussie classic and comes from a winery that is regarded as one of the country's finest. The Dry Red No.1 is a Bordeaux style blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 12% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot, all of which are hand harvested, and hand sorted to ensure only the finest berries make the final blend. The Cabernet is crushed prior to fermentation whilst the other varieties are fermented whole and all are vinified seperately. The wines are then matured seperately in French Oak (40-50% new), and blended prior to bottling.

The generous, mouthcoating palate is more of the same with lots of immediately approachable fruit and spice wrapped up in ripe, textured tannins. Their wines are unfined and unfiltered and represent a different side to Margaret River than one might expect. The delicious Amato Rosso is made from the unusual blend of Teroldego, Primitivo, Cabernet and Chenin Blanc and is bright and juicy with Maraschino Cherry and Raspberry fruit balanced with delightful, lifted acidity. Easy going, fresh and almost dangerously drinkable, this wonderful red is a welcome addition to our list and sure to become a staff favourite before too long!
