Patrick Vauvy harvests his Touraine Sauvignon grapes later than most other producers in the region which helps to give his wines a little more opulance than some.  This lovely Touraine Sauvignon has attractive aromatics showing some richness of fruit. The nose has an abundance of exotic fruits and just a hint of mint. The palate is fresh and tangy with a moreish finish.

The tiny plots of vines that make up the Mil Demonios Semillon/Sauvignon blend are microvinified in Amphora and then aged in tight grained oak prior to release.  This terrific white is precise and focussed with a wonderful vein of acidity running from start to finish.  The mid-palate shows a lovely weight to it that suggests the wine will age further and gain complexity as it does so.

The La Signa-Terres from Paul Lebrun shows an incredible butter-like creaminess alongside orchard fruits, citrus and almond aromas. Toasty, but with a soft palate thanks to the mild dosage and a creamy petillance which doesn't overpower the delicate texture and freshness. The finish is lengthy with hints of toast, zest and salted almonds.

Following many ultra-successful vintage releases, the Langham Blanc de Blancs has switched to a non vintage blend following the 2018 vintage.  Made with 100% Chardonnay, 56% of which is from the 2021 vintage, and aged on the lees for three years, this is an energetic and wonderfully focussed Blanc de Blancs. The nose displays a tense balance between ripe green apple and conference pear with notes of white flowers and intense graphite minerality. The palate is delicate yet weighty in texture, with soft ripe pear, honeydew melon and white grapefruit acidity, finishing with a trademark saline nuttiness.

Domaine du Landreau are 4th generation growers who produce a range of clean, crisp and expressive wines in the central Loire Valley.  The Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc grapes are hand harvested over several passages through the vineyard, ensuring the grapes are picked at their optimum ripeness.  A slow, cool ferment and 3 years lees ageing help this traditional method sparkling wine develop it's delicate floral, citrus and apple notes with nutty undertones.  Elegant on the finish with a creamy texture courtesy of the ageing make this a stunning value alternative to entry-level Champagnes.

The Gran Rue from Cantine Povero is a traditional method sparkling wine made from roughly 50/50 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir using only the first pressed must. This complex Rosé NV is a blend of 15% Pinot Noir, 16% Pinot Meunier, 69% Chardonnay, with the current release made from base wine from 2020.  The wine offers aromas aplenty of cherry bakewell, pink lady apple skin, raspberry yoghurt & wild strawberries. The palate reflects this fresh red berry profile, but it is also more serious & has great depth. Cherry yoghurt, young wild strawberry & raspberry coulée bring the fruit profile to the forefront, whilst a more savoury & saline note rounds off the wine.
