2011 Chateau Grandis, Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc
Bordeaux Blend
Château Grandis became a family run estate in 1857 and the vineyards are made up of a modest 10 hectares which enables the family to maintain the strictest high standards both in the vineyard and the cellar. In 2005 Brice Vergez took over the running of the estate and has continued to practice the techniques of hand harvesting, hand pruning and racking from barrel to barrel. He also prefers ploughing between the rows of vines rather than the systematic use of herbicides, promoting soil health wherever possible.

This second wine of Chateau Angludet is a perfectly mature claret that shows the elegance and finesse of it's more grown up sibling at a fraction of the price. 2016 Chateau Cambon La Pelouse, Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc
Bordeaux Blend
The Château and it’s vineyards are on the outskirts of Macau and counts the Margaux estate of Giscours and Cantemerle as neighbours. With an average annual production of 250,000 bottles, the estate is planted with 52% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot to a vine density of 7,000 vines per hectare, with an average age of 30 years for the vines. The terroir is composed of sandy gravels which provides effective drainage. This ensures a consistent production of elegant medium-bodied wines which have been praised by Robert Parker as “one of my favorite estates from the southern part of the Médoc”. This historic estate has produced a very classic claret, but with lovely modern dense dark fruit, soft integrated tannins and a ripe, clean, bold Bordeaux finish. Whilst Cambon is always a very good Cru Bourgeois, from this 2016 vintage the Châteaux has surpassed itself in terms of a price to quality ratio. Critics’ Notes: “The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse is a wine of real depth, power and flavor. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, cedar and earthy notes are all laced together in this punchy, expressive Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Once again, Cambon La Pelouse over delivers. It should drink well for the next decade-plus. Tasted two times” Drinking Window 2018 - 2031: 91 Points - By Antonio Galloni on December 2018 “The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse has a classic, nicely detailed bouquet with blackberry, briary, autumn leaves and cedar aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very harmonious and cohesive with supremely well-judged acidity that lends the finish a silky smooth, gently grippy finish that bodes well for the future. Excellent. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London”Drinking Window: 2020 – 2030: 91 Points- By Neal Martin on September 2018 “Closed right now, a good sign that this has the structure for ageing. This is a serious wine with spiced cassis and blackberry fruit, fresh acidities, and plenty of tannins. Enjoyable, and an excellent example of the value and quality that can be found with the 2016 vintage. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot” Drinking Window 2022 - 2036. 92 Points - By Jane Anson, Decanter.com, July 2020
