Muscat

The delightful Rutherglen Muscat from Stanton & Killeen shows a light amber colour in the glass.  The nose is packed with expressive floral notes of crushed rose petal, lavender and orange blossom.  The sweet yet balanced palate is rich and silky smooth with raisin characteristics and Turkish delight leading to a long, lingering finish.  This is the youngest and freshest tier of the four classifications: Rutherglen, Classic, Grand and Rare and absolute delight.

NV Soleria Fortified Torrontes, Malamado, Maipu/Santa Rosa

Torrontes

The Soleria Fortified Torrontes is made with late harvested Torrontes grapes that are fortified with a Torrontes based grape brandy when the sweetness levels hit 221 grams per litre of sugar during fermentation.  The wine is then aged in 4th use oak barrels previously used for Zuccardi's high end Chardonnay for 40 months.

Deep yellow with golden highlights and fine, delicate bubbles. It has an intense, fruity bouquet with aromas of peaches, apricot jam and subtle hints of toasted brioche and vanilla. On the palate is it full-bodied, fruity and graceful with golden peach flavours. The long finish is distinctive with light toasty notes. All in all Folies de la Marquetterie is a full flavoured, harmonious Champagne distinguished by its immense richness and complexity. The Turbullent Rose is a deliciously light, refreshing and pretty rose made in the Methode Ancestrale way (not quite a Pet Nat).  With fresh raspberry and red fruits, crisp acidity and a melt in the mouth palate, this is a delightful wine made with the local Gamay Saint Romain variety in the southernmost AC in the Loire.

Chardonnay

Vincent Couche is a biodynamic grape grower in Champagne who also owns some vines in Burgundy, where he makes this de-classified Cremantde Bourgogne.  Taking a 'Grower Chamagne' approach to cremant, 30% of the grapes are oak fermented and aged in a solera so do not conform to the regulations of Cremant.  Who cares when the wine is this good!  Vibrant and amazingly drinkable, this zesty, complex and downright drinkable fizz is true real delight, showing zesty mineral tinged citrus, baked apple and whiffs of brioche.  No added sulphur makes it all the more appealing.
