Description

Bòggina B is produced from Tuscan Trebbiano vines in Valdarno, planted in the ‘70s in the “Poggio” vineyard. This area has been known since 1300 for its quality, and the wines were sent to the popes in Rome and the courts of Florence. Bòggina B was born in 2014 as a tribute to the renowned white wines from Valdarno of the past. The wine is matured “Sur lies” for over 15 months in specially-selected French oak tonneaux. Constant batonnage is employed during the early months, gradually decreasing over time.

“This is fresh and perfumed with notes of beeswax, spicy herbs and orange blossom. Nuts. Honey blossom. Beautiful fruit with savory undertones and wet stone minerality. Full-bodied, so persistent and complex with depth to the fruit and stunning acidity. The finish is long and linear, changing from mineral to a steely character at the very end. Beautiful as always. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.”
98 points, James Suckling

Sauvignon Blanc

The Sancerre Croq Caillotte is a classic example of how it pays dividends to seek out the smaller growers, as this is a top notch, characterful Sancerre showing citrus and apple fruit, perfectly poised minerality and mouth-watering acidity.  Classy and offers terrific value for money.

2023 Riesling Sekt Trocken, Hanewald-Schwerdt, Pfalz

Riesling

The Hanewald-Schwerdt Riesling Sekt Trocken has a steely lemon tinged nose with red apple and peach underpinned by zesty lime acidity, resulting in a lovely refreshing style.  This is by no means bone dry though, and with 23grams of residual sugar this a fruitier style that is a great alternative to Prosecco for those looking for something a little different.
