Description

The Bardolino Chiaretto Rosato from Giovanna Tantini is a wonderful example of it’s type and widely considered by many (including Decanter Magazine) to be one of the finest in Italy.  Having said that, all of her wines show a wonderful freshness and balance and this delightful blend of Trebbiano, Garganega and Chardonnay continues that theme.  Harvested by hand and vinified seperately at cool temperatures, the final blend spends 6 months on lees in tank and a further 2 months in bottle prior to release. The wine is delicate and faintly aromatic on the nose, balancing green apple and banana hints which lead to a rounded, generous palate that is mouthfulling yet not overly full.  A terrific match to a variety of dishes including Tortellini, fresh pasta and charcuterie.

2019 Bordeaux Blanc Sec, Chateau Saransot-Dupre

Semillon/Sauvignon

Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac.  Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness.  Much like Chateau Fourcas Hosten, the wines have improved year on year since 2010 and the property were put on the radar thanks to a certain Robert Parker hailing the 2010 vintage as 'classed growth quality'.  High praise indeed!

Palomino

The Barbadillo Palomino Castillo de San Diego is crisp, fresh and unfortified!  This dry, refreshing white is a great example of the Sherry regions principle grape variety.  The wine is perfect spring/summer quaffing and a great stepping stone to appreciating the more complex, fortified and solera aged versions from DO Jerez.
