Description

The Embers Cabernet Sauvignon from Flametree has lifted aromas of violets, ripe black fruits with chocolate and cedar notes, leading to a palate bursting with flavours of  plum, blackberry and chocolate. Medium-bodied with soft fruit and a fine tannin structure, this is an impeccable Margaret river red.

Flametree Wines is located on the picturesque shores of Geographe Bay in Western Australia, entry point to the renowned Margaret River wine region. The Towner family built their state of the art winery in 2007 which helps demonstrate the Company’s unwavering commitment to excellence.  Its design ensures minimal fruit handling and significant investment has been made in equipment and technology that retains the integrity and quality of fruit. Flametree draws on the strengths of the region by growing and sourcing fruit from mature vineyards in the best sub-regions, crafting wines that exhibit structure, perfume and elegance.

2011 Chateau Bellegrave, AC Pomerol

Bordeaux Blend

The 2011 vintage had a hard act to follow coming after two exceptional years in Bordeaux and whilst the wines aren't as showy as the '09's and '10's they are charming and drinking beautifully with a decade in bottle.

2020 Chateau Saransot-Dupre, Listrac Medoc, Magnum

Bordeaux Blend

Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac.  Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness.  Much like Chateau Fourcas Hosten, the wines have improved year on year since 2010 and the property were put on the radar thanks to a certain Robert Parker hailing the 2010 vintage as 'classed growth quality'.  High praise indeed!

Moulin Camus Gamay.JPG

2023 Gamay, Domaine Moulin Camus, IGP Loire

Gamay

This 100% Gamay from Domaine Moulin Camus comes from grapes grown on a slope of pure mica schist which gives the wine juicy, rounded red fruits a bit of tautness and minerality.  A warmer than normal, sulphur free maceration for three days helps bring out some warmth and roundness to the fruit, making it slightly beaujolais'esque but without the bubble gum/commercial edge that one would normally find in this price range.

2018 Brunello di Montalcino Pieve Santa Restituta, Gaja, DOCG

Sangiovese

Gaja's Brunello di Montalcino shows notes of juniper berries, liquorice and sweet wood on the nose. It has a very clear expression of sweet and ripe fruit, opening on the palate, with notes of spice and earthy aromatic herbs. This wine has remarkable texture, mouth-filling fruit and a very good length.
