The 2019 Niepoort Vintage Port has a brilliant appearance with a dark purple rim and concentrated depth of colour. The aroma is fine and subdued with only a hint of primary dark fruits and some spice. The true potential and style of this wine really comes together on the palate with wonderful integration of dark fruits with a grainy tannic structure, pairing volume with amazing balance and elegance and an impressive finish. In conclusion, the primary fruit on the palate is appealing at this stage, but it’s the balanced tannic structure which indicates great ageing potential for the future.

The Graham's Six Grapes has a wonderfully deep, dark red colour, with a seductive rich perfume of ripe plums and cherries. On the palate, complex, with a good structure and a long lingering finish.

Rainwater Reserva, Barbeito, Madeira

Verdelho

This blend of 80% Tinta Negra and 20% Verdelho is aged in cask for 5 years naturally, without the addition of caramel and is designed to mimic the 'Rainwater Style' of Madeira. The origins of this style are ambiguous, (depending on who you speak to), but it is thought to derive from when the barrels were left outside and the wine inside took on a particular characteristic having been lashed by the Atlantic rains.  What we can be certain of is that this is a stunning style medium dry Madeira that has complex flavours of almonds, caramel, nuts and candied fruits.  The finish is long and balanced with terrific acidity.

2017 Vintage Port, Eirados, Douro

The 2017 Vintage Port, Eirados has plenty of rich and jammy fruit added to this wine making it enjoyable in it's youth but there are also some good, firm tannins suggesting that there is plenty of development to come.  This is great value from a smaller Port House in an amazing vintage that has produced sublimely balanced, long loving wines.
