In the mouth, it is initially fresh, with the well integrated oak building in prominence in the mid-palate. The floral fruit character carries through to the well-balanced finish.

Sauvignon Blanc

The Salt River Sauvignon Blanc takes it's name from the trendy district of Cape Town that Savage Wines calls home.  Made from a 35 year old parcel of Stellenbosch vines, this terrific wine is complex, linear and bursting with citrus, grapefruit and elderflower notes. Precise and finishing with a thirst-quenching saline burst, the Salt River Sauvignon Blanc is delicious on release but will also age gracefully for a few years.

The expressive wines of Matawhero in Gisborne are dry farmed and produced by a passionate team whose love of wine, and the land in which their grapes are grown, is evident in every bottle.  This subtle and elegant Sauvignon has the kiwi hallmarks of herbaceous tropical fruit and passion fruit with beautifully balanced acidity and some decent weight.  The finish is fresh, balanced and long, giving a more restrained style than the Sauvignons that come from Marlborough.

Sitting a mere 20km from the Atlantic, the Cabana das Bolboretas is a boutique vineyard that benefits from the cooling influence of the ocean.  This surprising sparkling wine is made from 100% Albarino harvested in 2015 and is made by he traditional method with a second fermentation in bottle.  The wine spends 26 months onlees and is classified as Extra Brut with 3-6 g/l of residual sugar.
