Picpoul

The Montagnac cellar was created in 1937 and has grown with vineyards stretching over 7 communes all along the Thau lake in the mountainous foothills of Hérault. Around 2,000 hectares are vinified on 2 different sites, a major part of which is located on clay-limestone soils with some pockets of marl as well. The climate is Mediterranean, dry and hot during summer, but more temperate due to it's proximity to the sea.

2023 Chardonnay, Hanewald-Schwerdt, Pfalz

Chardonnay

The Hanewald-Schwerdt Chardonnay reveals citrus & stone fruits with nuances of melons and herbs. Silky, lively with nice acidity.There is the merest whiff of old oak to this wine which is used purely to some softness to the mouthfeel.  This is very appealing and an extremely enjoyable take on Chardonnay.

It is a blend of Roussanne, Viognier and Clairette and been a regular feature of our list for several vintages thanks to it's wonderful balance of delicate floral aromatics, peach and stone fruit flavours and balanced fresh acidity.

Sauvignon Blanc

This vineyard is located in  the Valle Central in Chile at the foot of the Andes, with a winegrowing area covering 114,000 hectares with very varied soils.  A very easy drinking Sauvignon Blanc with typical aromas of gooseberry and citrus fruits, lovely balanced acidity and a crisp clean finish.
