Description
This delightful Beaujolais Villages from Domaine de la Madone is an honest and open Gamay from the slopes of the Madonna Hill in Fleurie. Soils here are granite rich and impart character and freshness into the grapes from the old vines (some 100+ years old).
A mixture of dark and red fruits on the floral nose lead to a generous, juicy palate that is fresh and concentrated. The long finish is packed with fruit and backed up by more minerality – yummy!
Domaine de la Madone own some of the highest vines in the region on perilously steep slopes that require working the vineyards by hand. Grapes are hand sorted on arrival at the winery with fermentation taking place in open fermenters with indigenous yeasts. The wines show purity and freshness and are testament to the terrific terroir in this part of Beaujolais.
