Description

Described by Gaelle Meunier as a ‘Petit Puligny’, the Les Parties is a delectable white burgundy that balances richness and depth with freshness and elegance.  The majority of the vines lie within Puligny itself and 50% of the wine is oaked, 30% of which is new, with the remainder fermented and raised in stainless steel.  Elegance and precision best describe this delightful wine from a generous, early to mid term drinking vintage.

Gaelle and Jerome Meunier own 15 hectares of vines spread over the Cote Chalonnaise and Cote de Beaune.  Operations here are very hands on and personal which is reflected in the chracterful, down to earth and approachable wines that the Domaine produce under their own label.  Sadly quantities are limited and there is never enough wine to satisfy demand, no matter how large the vintage.

This is the Sea Albarino, The Liberator Episode 36 has fresh acidity that balances the full body /firm structure of the wine and, with a maritime note, it reminds Rick how well the wine matches seafood.

Chardonnay

The Flametree Chardonnay is beautifully balanced, displaying power and elegance in equal measure, plenty of vibrant citrus and stone fruit flavours and supportive oak courtesy of 9 months barrel ageing.  This is delicious now but will continue to develop for a couple of years.

2019 Bordeaux Blanc Sec, Chateau Saransot-Dupre

Semillon/Sauvignon

Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac.  Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness.  Much like Chateau Fourcas Hosten, the wines have improved year on year since 2010 and the property were put on the radar thanks to a certain Robert Parker hailing the 2010 vintage as 'classed growth quality'.  High praise indeed!
