Description
The Rose Gastronomique from Jeanneret in the Clare Valley is a gorgeously deep rosé that is bound to cause upset amongst the Whispering Angel crowd. Enticingly dark, with a nose of redcurrant, raspberry and rose petal alongside more savoury notes. The palate is full and complex yet not over the top, with a delightful creamy texture, bright cherry fruit, more red fruits and savoury spice. The harmonious finish is textured, balanced and very long. Enjoy this deliciously different rose with food and only slightly chilled, much as you would a chilled red wine.
Jeanneret have produced a fabulous take on a Rhone/Northern Spanish rose from the free run juice hand-picked old vine Malbec that sees 15 – 20 minutes skin contact. Fermentation is cool, lasting 80 days and is followed by 3 months lees ageing to promote texture and finesse. Prior to bottling 12.5% Riesling is blended in adding aromatic complexity to this fascinating wine. It’s Rose, but not as you know it!
