Description
The Village Chardonnay from Kumeu River Estate is another fabulous value wine that tastes anything but ‘entry-level’. Roughly one third is fermented in 5 year old French Oak barriques, more for texture than any discernable oaky characteristics. The remainder is cold fermented in stainless steel with natural yeasts. The wine is wonderfully fresh with vibrant citrus and white peach characters and some decent weight to the mid-palate. The finish is clean and well-balanced with a distinct mineral tinge to it. Beautiful as an aperitif or with seafood, especially shellfish.

This is very appealing and an extremely enjoyable take on Chardonnay.

2021 Puligny Montrachet, Domaine Meunier
Chardonnay
The grapes for this approachable Puligny are hand harvested and undergo a gentle pressing. The juice is then left to settle for a few days then put into French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. Indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation and the wine spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled. Great persistence in the mouth, this wine has a wonderful freshness to it and can be enjoyed in it's youth.
