Description
2020 was a cracking vintage in Mendoza and was characterised by healthy fruit with thick skins, leading to lots of colour in the resultant wines. This wonderful Semillon from Mendel is made with old vines (70+ years) and shows all the varietal characteristics one would expect with plenty of honeyed white fruits including citrus, pear and pineapple along with herbaceous notes. The palate is elegant with a wonderful balance of freshness and aromatic complexity, leading to a silky, rounded finish.
The wine is made from 100% Semillon, 85% of which is col fermented in stainless steel, with the remainder fermented and aged in French oak for 6 months.
