Description

The 2018 Chateau de Fonbel is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Carmenere and offers great value drinking in the short to medium term.  Perfumed, up front kirsch and dark cherry fruit with firm yet soft tannins.

“A blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Carménère, the 2018 Château De Fonbel is a juicy, medium to full-bodied, elegant Saint-Émilion that has seriously good notes of black cherries, black raspberries, violets, and spice. It shows the ripe, sexy style of the vintage, but its purity of fruit and polished tannins set it apart. This is a beautiful wine and my money is on it being a best to date.”

92/94 Points – Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, May 2019

“A juicy and rich young wine with lots of fruit and density. Round and soft tannins with hints of freshness at the same time.”

91/92 Points – James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, April 2019

Pinot Noir

The grapes for this wine are hand harvested from 2 parcels in the heart of Mercurey where the soil is clay and limestone. They spend 10-15 days fermenting in the tank before being put into French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.  The wine then spends 12 months in barrel before being blended and bottled.

Brachetto

The Braida Brachetto d'Acqui is a semi-sparkling (frizzante) red sweet wine with a bright ruby colour. The nose is youthful and exuberant and bursts with aromas of red fruits like wild strawberry, raspberry & grape. The palate surprises with its fresh, refined and mineral notes, freshened by crisp acidity and fine, elegant fizz. The fruity notes are complemented by subtle hints of violet and rose.

Rhone Blend

The Un Bon Canon Cotes du Rhone hits the spot every time with it's fruit forward blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mouvedre which is fermented in concrete tanks.  The vineyards lie in the southern part of the region on a dried up river bed strewn with heat retaining pebbles.  The hot summer sun ensures that the wine is bold and fruity with raspberry and dark fruits and hints of garrigue/herbal undergrowth.
