Description
The 2018 Chardonnay, Langham Estate is ultra fresh with aromas of kiwi and melon on the nose leading to a crisp, citrussy palate with just a whiff of that ‘natural/funky’ character which isn’t over the top. Some barrel ageing on lees adds little texture to the finish.
So far this 2018 vintage from Dorset vineyard Langham Estate is a one off, and sadly only available in tiny volumes. Natural yeast fermentation, unfined and unfiltered this is a bold experiment by winemaker Daniel Ham which paid dividends.
The sunny, hot 2018 vintage produced an abundance of fruit for british vineyards which led to some ultra ripe Chardonnay grapes being spare for the production of this wine…fingers crossed we get a few more similar vintages to allow Langham to repeat the experiment.

Chardonnay
The Hanewald-Schwerdt Chardonnay reveals citrus & stone fruits with nuances of melons and herbs. Silky, lively with nice acidity. There is the merest whiff of old oak to this wine which is used purely to some softness to the mouthfeel. This is very appealing and an extremely enjoyable take on Chardonnay.

Picpoul
The Montagnac cellar was created in 1937 and has grown with vineyards stretching over 7 communes all along the Thau lake in the mountainous foothills of Hérault. Around 2,000 hectares are vinified on 2 different sites, a major part of which is located on clay-limestone soils with some pockets of marl as well. The climate is Mediterranean, dry and hot during summer, but more temperate due to it's proximity to the sea.
