Description

Cantina Bonacchi has been making fine Tuscan wines for three generations. The wines are produced from 40 hectares in the Chianti Montalbano area, as well as from 10 hectares divided between Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. They also own 20 hectares in the Chianti Classico area. Modern technology and family expertise enables Bonacchi to offer excellent products from their four estates in Tuscany.

Amber in colour with intense, heady aromas of candied fruit and toffee. The palate is sweet, with balancing freshness and shows lovely complexity from the ageing. Prominent caramel notes with sweet, citrus fruits follow through to a deliciously long finish.

Trebbiano 70%, Malvasia 20%, Other Varieties 10%

Brachetto

The history of the Brachetto is steeped in legend and fascination. An antique drink that was mentioned for the first time during the Roman empire when writers described the customs of the ‘Gallia Cisalpina’ (Gaul, on this side of the Alpes), speaking of a sweet aromatic wine of Acqui Terme, very appreciated by the patricians.

Muscadelle

The Rutherglen Topaque from Stanton & Killeen shows a wonderful deep orange amber colour with floral aromas of crushed rose petal, lavender and orange blossom. The palate has rich raisins with subtle oak and great length.

Muscat

A long standing favourite of ours, this delicious wine is a bit of a cape classic.  Made from late harvested Muscat de Frontignan grapes which are gently crushed then left on their skins for 48 hours before a short fermentation. The wine is then fortified and bottled with the result being a wonderfully fresh, floral stickie taht remains on the correct side of cloying.  Enjoy this versatile dessert wine with a variety of puddings or as a long drink with masses of ice as the locals would.  Terrific value.

For sheer value for money, this Moscatel is one of our favourite Dessert wines, despite it being the 'entry-level' offering from Sivipa.
