Chateau Musar 1998.JPG

1998 Chateau Musar, Bekaa Valley

Cabernet Sauvignon

The 1998 Musar Red is an elegant and fragrant Cinsault dominated vintage, mainly due to the cooler conditions. It shows wonderfully developed gamey aromas, is well structured and  has a vein of finely poised acidity running through it.  Medium bodied with great length.  The vintage was, by Lebanese standards, cold, with rainy weather that lasted until June (resulting in late flowering), leading to a summer that was sunny and dry.

The 2018 Chateau Musar is a rich and concentrated style, partly due to a 3 day heatwave in August when temperatures reached 40 degrees celcius! Dried cherries, plum and dark berry fruits dominate the nose along with leather, tobacco and spice.  The palate is concentrated showing rich, raisin like depth and tremendous length.  This powerful Musar shows a great deal of development now but will continue to develop for years to come.

Chateau Ksara Rouge.JPG

2019 Chateau Ksara Rouge, Bekaa Valley

Bordeaux Blend

This Bordeaux blend is Chateau Ksara's most historic wine.  Made from low-yielding Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot from high altitude clay and limestone vineyards and aged in a mixture of new and old french oak for 18 months.  The result is a wine with plenty of red and dark fruits, bramble, blackberry and plum along with hints of eucalyptus and more developed notes of chocolate, coffee and toast.  Complex, full and very impressive, the Chateau Ksara rouge is approachable in it's youth but has the ability to age gracefully for many years to come.

Massaya Rouge.JPG

2021 Massaya Red Le Colombier

Cinsault

Massaya is run by brothers Sami and Ramzi Ghosn in partnership with Frédéric and Daniel Brunier from Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe and Dominique Hebrard, formerly from Château Cheval Blanc. Until recently Massaya’s vineyards have solely been located in the fertile Bekaa Valley, at an altitude of 1000 metres above sea level. However, over the last seven years Sami and Ramzi together with Frédéric and Daniel Brunier, have developed Massaya vineyards in the more extreme, mineral areas of the Bekaa valley, moving onto hillside sites to the North East (Ras Baalbek) and North West (Hadath Baalbek), as well as further north of Baalbek.
