Description

The Petritis White from Kyperounda comes from the highest vineyards in Europe at 1400 metres above sea level and is made in the highest winery in Europe (1140 metres above sea level).   Made entirely from the Xynisteri grape variety, this wine is bursting with citrus, candied lime and lychee flavours, mingled with touches of spice.  It is medium bodied, softly textured and very refreshing.

The gravity-fed winery is built on three levels and is designed for the gentlest possible handling of the grapes and wine. The grapes underwent 10 to 12 hours skin contact pre-fermentation maceration, depending on the temperature of the grapes. Vinification took place in stainless steel tanks to maximise the purity of the fruit. The wine did not go through malolactic conversion in order to retain freshness and enhance the mineral character. 20% of the wine was then matured in new oak for two months, adding subtle oak complexity to the final blend.

Chenin Blanc

Produced from several vineyards with Silex (flint) soils, this delicious Vouvray is pale yellow with a very reserved nose. The palate is dominated by minerals, with citrus, apple and lemon peel fruit. Floral aromas balance out the minerality with some lovely balanced acidity coming through on the finish.

2022 The Tin Mine White, Zevenwacht, Stellenbosch

Chenin Blanc

The Zevenwacht Tin Mine White is a stunning blend of Chenin, Chardonnay, Roussanne, Viognier and Semillon, coming from vineyards planted on decomposed granite soils which lie between 200 and 350m above sea level.  Ageing in 500 litre French oak barrels helps add to the wonderful texture without detracting from the impeccably integrated exotic, spicey fruit and lively yet balanced acidity.
