Description
The Baiocco Merlot from the DOC of Ticino in Switzerland is made in a Bordelaise style, with a maceration period of 8-12 days followed by stainless steel fermentation. A proportion is aged in old oak to give some texture and body. The wine is beautifully fresh with complex red berry fruit laced with liquorice and roasted notes. Impeccably balanced on the finish, this is a wonderful alternative to right bank claret and a great wine to slot into a blind tasting.
The region of Ticino is an Italian speaking region of southern Switzerland just north of Lugano and not a million miles from the Italian border.

2020 Chateau Saransot Dupre, Cru Bourgeois Superieurlistrac
Bordeaux Blend
Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a favourably sited 17 hectares property that lies between Fourcas Dupré and Fourcas Hosten in Listrac. Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are favoured over Cabernet Sauvignon to form the majority of the blend, helping them achieve optimum ripeness. Much like Chateau Fourcas Hosten, the wines have improved year on year since 2010 and the property were put on the radar thanks to a certain Robert Parker hailing the 2010 vintage as 'classed growth quality'. High praise indeed!
