Description
Château Grange Cochard lies in the heart of the Morgon Appelation on granitic, shaly slopes and has been crafting classic wines from their superbly sited vineyards since the 18th Century. The ‘Les Charmes’ is one of the favoured ‘lieu-dits’ of Morgon and winemaking is traditional, with hand harvested fruit fermented carefully in the semi-carbonic maceration method with half being whole bunches and half de-stemmed fruit. Maturation is in a mixture of vat and cask and sulphur addition low.
Beautiful red fruits, herbal tinges and wonderful purity characterise this silky, elegant red that is superb value for money.

A warmer than normal, sulphur free maceration for three days helps bring out some warmth and roundness to the fruit, making it slightly beaujolais'esque but without the bubble gum/commercial edge that one would normally find in this price range.
