Description

The hugely enjoyable Gladstone Pinot Noir is packed with fragrant ripe fruit with heaps of blackberry and dark cherry alongside floral notes and subtle, savoury oak.  Although made in a crowd pleasing style there is nothing run of the mill about this wonderful north island Pinot Noir.  The palate is tight and refined with a distinct savoury edge.

“An attractive mix of fruit and spice with plum, dark cherry, anise and a smattering of freshly chopped herbs supported by fine, ripe tannins. An appealing fruit-bomb style and a real crowd-pleaser. Offers value at this price.” – Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review 93 Points

“Really lovely bouquet, captivating, varietal and youthful with aromas of fresh cherry and dark plum, a savoury complexity with dried herb and silty mineral soil layers. Some fine toasty oak and moments of red flowers. On the palate – lots of texture and energy, a core of fruit flavours that reflect the nose. Firm coarse silk tannins and medium+ acidity along with a great fruit profile makes for a delicious wine, ready from drinking from 2022 through 2028.” – Cameron Douglas MS 94 Points

2020 ‘O Font’ Les Deux Cols, Vin de France

Grenache Blend

Les Deux Cols is a joint venture between Ireland's leading Rhone importer, Simon Tyrell and Charles Derain, one time Sommelier to Alain Ducasse at Le Louis XV in Paris.  This Grenache Noir dominated blend is whole bunch and foot trodden, natural yeast fermented in concrete tanks and then matured in a mixture of old barriques and larger demi-muid barrels.  Pale in the glass, this is fresh and easy with red fruits and a hint of spice.  Hand harvesting takes place at least a week earlier than the neighbouring properties allowing for a fresher style, and all vineyards are either organic or in conversion with some biodynamic practices in use.

The Les Betes Rousses Rouge is very easy going with hints of spice, plums and red berries on the nose, it is beautfully rounded and balanced, with gentle tannins on the finish.  A cracking mid-week red.
