The Coal Pit Pinot Noir has dark cherry aromatics with savoury cocoa undertones, underpinned with delicate notes of dried herbs. The beautifully supple Matawhero Merlot comes from sustainable, dry farmed vineyards in Gisborne.  Tyical of the variety the nose shows open plum and dark berry fruit that leads to a soft, rounded and fruity palate that has whiffs of old oak and classic earthy undertones.

2022 Gonzo Combat Rouge, Vandal Wine Company

Red Blend

The Gonzo Combat Rouge is a rather unusual field blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Viognier which are co-fermented with whole bunch fermentation.  The results is a beautifully supple yet plush and ripe red wine with sweet, spicy raspberry and cherry fruit. We've found it drinks best slightly chilled on a warm evening.

2022 Kelly Washington Syrah, Waiheke Island

Syrah/Shiraz

This Kelly Washington Syrah comes from a small plot of naturally low cropping vines planted on gentle SW facing slopes.  Maritime breezes and mineral rich clay soils help to produce wines with beautiful aromatics and great concentration. The fruit is hand picked, with 15% whole bunch fermentation before ageing in French oak barriques for 11 months.  This is a lovely savoury style Syrah with a floral edge. The palate shows restraint and elegance with a lovely balance of fruit and tannins on the finish.
