Description
Pascal Fournillon owns 20 hectares of prime Chablis vineyards and has historically sold the majority of his production to negociants but is increasingly bottling more under his own label, and we are delighted that he does. His straight Chablis is our best selling burgundy and we are lucky enough to get our hands on some of his wonderful 1er Cru wines which represent a step up in quality and complexity.
His wines are very classic, showing typical minerality and flintiness coupled with generous, ultra fresh fruit which makes them broadly appealing and superb value for money.

2022/23 Carte d’Or, Baumard, AC Coteaux du Layon, Half Bottle
Chenin Blanc
The Carte d'Or Coteaux du Layon from Baumard has a very attractive honeyed nose, with lifted yellow fruits and more golden tropical elements such as mango, guava and pineapple. It has a particularly tropical character and a very fresh feel on the palate, with steely minerality and a zippy background acidity giving invigorating tartness to keep the wine luscious and buoyant. The rounded, approachable finish has good length.

2023 Riesling Sekt Trocken, Hanewald-Schwerdt, Pfalz
Riesling
The Hanewald-Schwerdt Riesling Sekt Trocken has a steely lemon tinged nose with red apple and peach underpinned by zesty lime acidity, resulting in a lovely refreshing style. This is by no means bone dry though, and with 23grams of residual sugar this a fruitier style that is a great alternative to Prosecco for those looking for something a little different.

2024 Picpoul De Pinet Mare Nostrum, Caves De Montagnac
Picpoul
The Montagnac cellar was created in 1937 and has grown with vineyards stretching over 7 communes all along the Thau lake in the mountainous foothills of Hérault. Around 2,000 hectares are vinified on 2 different sites, a major part of which is located on clay-limestone soils with some pockets of marl as well. The climate is Mediterranean, dry and hot during summer, but more temperate due to it's proximity to the sea.
